North Herts Youth Council for young adults aged 18 to 25 with SEND

This project provides young adults aged 18 to 25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) opportunities to express their views on the issues important to them as well as contributing to the improvement of services and opportunities within their local communities and Hertfordshire.

The project runs in Letchworth every week during term time.

Gigamix Project for young adults aged 18-25 with SEND

The Gigamix Project is for young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 18 to 25, including those with social and emotional mental health (SEMH) needs. The focus is on developing independent living/life skills.

The young adults will get support from qualified SfYP youth workers, meet other young people with SEND in their area and learn skills to help them live more independently. SfYP Youth Workers also offer individualised support with emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, staying safe, nutrition and cooking, and managing money.

The project runs in Letchworth every week during term time.

North Herts Emotional Wellbeing Project

The North Herts Emotional Wellbeing Project supports young people aged 12 to 15 to explore the importance of emotional and mental wellbeing and physical health. Young people will learn how emotional and mental wellbeing can affect physical, social and mental health. It enables young people to develop a positive attitude to change; empowering them to make the most of the opportunities available to them, while developing their knowledge and understanding and learning strategies for improving their wellbeing.

The project runs in Hitchin every week during term time.

Raising Aspirations Project for home educated young people

The North Herts Raising Aspirations Project is for young people aged 12 to 15 who are home-schooled or not in formal education. It focuses on building interpersonal and teamwork skills, confidence and resilience. Through interactive workshops and activities, young people can explore topics such as managing their mental and physical wellbeing and setting goals for the future.

The project runs in Stevenage every week during term time.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Project

The SfYP Duke of Edinburgh's Award Projects are delivered by qualified SfYP Youth Workers and are specifically for young people who need additional support or would be less likely to access the DofE through traditional routes:

  • Those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) aged 14-24
  • Young people missing from education aged 14-17
  • Home educated young people aged 14-17
  • Young people being supported by a social worker aged 14-17

Our Youth Workers create an inclusive and supportive environment to ensure all participants can benefit from the DofE experience, regardless of their background or abilities. By participating in an SfYP DofE project, young people will not only experience personal growth and develop new skills, but also make a meaningful impact in their local area.

The SfYP DofE Project for young people in Stevenage and North Herts takes place every Friday at the Stevenage Young People's Centre.
