Forest School

Forest School sessions at Hudnall Park are holistic, inspiring and fun!

Den building in woodlands

Go Wild at Hudnall Forest School sessions enable children and young people to explore and take appropriate risks in the outdoor environment. They will develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience through experiential learning and adventure in a natural setting.

Activities may include shelter building, natural arts and crafts, knot tying, sensory games and problem-solving challenges.

All sessions enable young people to explore the natural world using the five senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste in a fun and engaging way. They will also learn some useful mindfulness tools that they can use to help them manage their emotions on a day-to-day basis such as anxiety, anger, frustration and sadness.

What people have said about Go Wild at Hudnall Forest School

From the Assistant Head at Greenside School, Stevenage

"Forest School has quickly become one of the most anticipated and loved experiences in our setting. Learners look forward to each session with genuine excitement—many even request to go by finding photos and placing them onto their daily schedules.

The impact on learners has been remarkable. We've seen significant growth in confidence, independence, and positive risk-taking. Forest School provides a safe yet adventurous environment where learners can challenge themselves, explore freely, and build resilience in a natural setting.

Staff have also thoroughly embraced the experience. They consistently speak highly of the sessions, appreciating the positive impact on learners and the opportunities it provides for different styles of learning and connection.

Forest School has become a valuable part of our provision, enriching our curriculum and supporting personal growth in ways that extend far beyond the woodland.”

From a teacher at a local secondary school
"Many of our students thrive most outdoors. In the classroom, they can struggle to concentrate but to take them outside, where they can take charge, set their own boundaries has been fantastic for their focus, confidence, and social skills."
