Tips on completing the online application
- Enter all your GCSE results including grades (1-3)
- Include any other college courses or qualifications you have achieved
- Enter all your previous employment and experience including your responsibilities or duties. The Job Profiles on the National Careers Service website have good lists of duties https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/jobprofiles
The 'About You' questions are really important
Use a separate word document to prepare your answers so you can check spelling and grammar. Be mindful of the word count for each section, for example, if a 300 word limit applies. Read the text before you paste it into your application.
- What are your strengths? What personal skills would you like to improve?
- Interests - use this section to include your interests that support your application
- 'Is there anything we can do to help you at interview?' - if you do not require any support please write 'No thank you' or 'Not applicable'
There may be other employer questions, such as:
- “Why are you interested in completing an apprenticeship?”
- “What qualities do you think are important in this job role?”
When answering the competency-based questions make sure that you answer in full sentences and give examples to back up your skills and achievements.
