Services for Young People

Services for Young People provides youth work projects, information, advice, guidance, work related learning and wider support for young people aged 11 to 17 and up to 24 for some vulnerable groups.

Sports, dance and physical education. A wide range of innovative courses and sessions through the medium of dance, multi-sports, PT instruction, leadership and behaviour change.

Dance Pad

Using dance as a catalyst for change, Dance Pad provides homeless people with the opportunity to progress beyond homelessness and fulfil their potential.

Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL) Area 9

Our mission is to meet the needs of children and young people with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND), aged 0-25, as close to home as possible, improve outcomes for wellbeing and attainment, widen the choices available to them, remove barriers to learning and identify ways to use resources more effectively.

First Rung offers vocational and basic skills training courses to support young people aged 14–23.

Hertfordshire Police – schools and gangs’ team

This Hertfordshire Police specialist team targets early intervention to educate young people about gang and knife crime. Professionals can refer young people if they are not currently engaged with another agency.

Herts Mind Network

Herts Mind Network provides mental health support with dedicated services for 15-18 year olds.

Mind in Herts is a provider of mental health services in Hertfordshire and has an office in Watford, providing services for people aged 16 and over.

Services include: social support, workshops for recovery and wellbeing, counselling, 1:1 emotional and practical support, vocational support, a young people’s group and outreach support in Watford.

Herts Sports Partnership

The Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership works collaboratively to create the conditions for an active nation and uses the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives.

'Fit, Fed and Read' summer programmes and Career Mode programmes offered.

HIT Theatre

Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) is a charity that works with disabled and non-disabled children, young people and adults.

HIT is a stage for everyone. They believe that everyone should have opportunities to enhance their lives through creative and educational activities in environments that are positive and welcoming to all, regardless of people’s background or abilities.


One YMCA delivers a range of youth work sessions, programmes and services across Watford, Three Rivers, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield and other areas throughout Hertfordshire. YMCA help young people gain support and advice in a safe environment, creating opportunities whilst having fun, learning to lead healthy lifestyles and make informed decisions.

Phoenix Group for Deaf Children and Young Adults

The Phoenix Group aims to empower young people up to the age of 25 who have a hearing impairment, helping them to overcome barriers and promoting independence.

Groups include: Active Wednesdays, Sip and Sign, Creative Thursdays, After School Club, and a monthly School Holiday activities club.

Pump House Theatre

Pump House Theatre is a theatre and arts centre. As well as providing performances, it organises drama workshops and mind, body and fitness events.

The Prince’s Trust, Start Something

The Prince’s Trust provides online resources for young people in the East of England. Their courses include:

  • Explore Enterprise – people aged 18-30 can develop skills and ideas for setting up a business
  • Game Design
  • Nail Art

They also provide cash awards and relief funds to young people who need support with their business or getting into education, training or employment.

Watford FC

Watford FC delivers a range of sporting opportunities in the local community. Watford FC also runs schemes providing mentoring support for young people in the community.

West Herts College

West Herts College is a further and higher education college with campuses in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley. It offers a range of career-focused full-time courses, apprenticeships, foundation degrees and HNDs. You can also do part-time courses to boost your CV or master a new hobby.
