Services for Young People delivers a high standard of information advice and guidance and is focused on ensuring its young people are able to fulfil their potential, according to a recent assessment carried out on behalf of the Department for Education.

The Matrix Assessment, carried out every three years, gives an in-depth review of information, advice and guidance, work with young people who are not in education, employment or training, work related learning which covers work experience and services to learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD).

Key findings from the assessment include:

This is significant and is testament to the service’s hard work in winning trust by adding value to its offer and understanding schools’ needs.
  • The Service is thriving and has a ‘thoroughly expert’ team of staff.
  • It is committed to achieving Hertfordshire County Council’s priority of ‘removing barriers to progression’ for young people.
  • The services focused on supporting vulnerable groups are varied and staff have the flexibility and focus to help even the most complex young people.
  • The LDD Team is very experienced, well respected, and effective in identifying progression pathways that benefit young people well. There are clear targets for monitoring the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans.

The assessment concluded that: “Services for Young People is a remarkable and successful example of what can be achieved by a LA focused on ensuring its young people are able to fulfil their potential.”
