Herts Pride is Hertfordshire’s biggest LGBT+ celebration. It’s a vibrant and inclusive event that enables people from all backgrounds to come together and celebrate diversity, unity, and equality in Hertfordshire. The event also raises awareness of issues affecting LGBT+ people and where help and support can be found.
The Services for Young People (SfYP) stand showcased our award-winning work with young LGBT+ people and raised awareness about the support we provide. Three members of the SfYP Three Rivers Team spoke to more than 65 young people and an additional 43 parents/carers who visited the SfYP stand in the Health and Wellbeing marquee. They were keen to hear about the SfYP LGBT+ youth work projects that run across Hertfordshire every week during term time, as well as the one-to-one support available at our 11-5 Hubs.
Sarah, Senior Youth Worker in the SfYP Three Rivers Team, said:
"Herts Pride continues to be a place where people can come together and celebrate unity and togetherness. Everyone has the freedom to be able to celebrate their true self".
One young person who has been attending their local LGBT+ project, said:
“Great to see SfYP in attendance. I can’t wait for projects to return!”.
After hearing about what SfYP offers, one parent said:
“I did not know about your service. That is something [my teenager] could really benefit from”.
It was also a chance for the team to network with other organisations who work with young people in Hertfordshire to ensure young people and their families know about all the support and opportunities available.
SfYP supports young LGBT+ people through LGBT+ youth work projects across the county. Young LGBT+ people can also get information, advice and support at their local SfYP 11-5 Hub.
